Pursuing AI at UK

As an artificial intelligence major, you will be taught by professors who are at the cutting edge of artificial intelligence and machine learning innovation. Our professors are available inside and outside of the classroom to discuss class materials, emerging topics in AI and machine learning research, and the artificial intelligence job landscape. Our faculty have expertise in foundational artificial intelligence/machine learning, data science, natural language processing, computer vision, ethics, and more.

Undergraduate Research in AI

Multidisciplinary research opportunities with faculty in their labs provide students with additional breadth and depth in artificial intelligence theory and practice. Such experience improves a student’s competitiveness for national scholarships and honors, professional computing careers, graduate education and professional school education.

Careers in AI

Artificial intelligence has already transformed how industries perform their work and how leisure activities are designed; projections indicate that this trend is likely to continue into the future. Because of its broad applicability, artificial intelligence offers a variety of career opportunities. Artificial intelligence has shown that it has the capability to adapt to different types of problems, meaning that most industries, companies, businesses and agencies can benefit from workers with a detailed understanding of artificial intelligence and how to effectively utilize it. In the 2025 World Economic Forum Future Job Report, 86% of those surveyed identified artificial intelligence as transformative to the job landscape, which will fuel the demand for those with AI and machine learning skills.

New Artificial Intelligence Certificate

OPEN TO ALL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS: The AI certificate program is a 12-credit certificate offers mostly hands-on, in-person coursework and is open to students from all UK colleges.

The certificate program aims to arm students with the AI literacy necessary in today’s world. Despite popular belief, AI systems do not operate independently and require human participation to reach decisions.
