UK Teams Participate in IEEE Programming Competition

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) student branch participated in the global IEEE Xtreme 24-Hour Programming Competition on October 21-22. Eight UK teams of three students each competed in the event and one UK team placed 31st out of over 1,500 teams.

UK Hosts Regional Programming Contest

On Saturday, November 3, the University of Kentucky hosted the Mid-Central Regionals of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) International Collegiate Programming Contest. Over 150 teams competed at several satellite sites. Four teams representing UK competed in the event, finishing in the top seven locally and in the Mid-Central region’s top 10.

Students Excel in University Programming Contest

Last Thursday, Sept. 13, 20 UK students competed against each other in a campus programming contest. The students, most of them CS majors, were each given six problems to try to solve individually within three and a half hours.

2011 UK Student Programming Contest

The 13th annual UK Student Programming Contest (UKSPC’11) took place in RGAN labs on Friday, September 16, 2011. Twenty-seven students participated, the largest number in recent years. The programming energy and skills were very high, with three students solving six and numerous students solving five problems out of the set of seven tasks in this 3.5 hour long competition.
