Ph.D. Ohio State University, 1982, Mathematics and CIS (Computer Information Sciences)
Computer graphics, geometric modeling, 3D imaging, 3D pointing.
Received SBIR grants (Phase I and Phase II) from the ROC (Taiwan) government in 2010 and 2011 to develop a 3D lens, 3D webcam and iFinger (a gesture-based input device).
He is developing a "Three-Channel Tube Mirror-based imaging system" that can be used to produce multi-view images of a scene with only one camera and one lens. With the multi-view images one can generate stereoscopic images or images with depth for 3D display.
Immediate applications include building 3D multi-view lenses for DSLR, 3D webcams, and 3D gesture-based I/O devices for computers, TVs, and mobile devices.
